OneRaleigh was built in 1903 as a summer cottage, and what a summer cottage it is! There is plenty of room for outdoor — and indoor– living. You certainly won’t fee cramped with separate space downstairs for living, dining, and watching TV as well as a kitchen with two pantries and a full laundry.
The deep porch runs around three sides of the house, and it does a great job of keeping the inside cool throughout the summer. The entire west side is fully screened to provide the perfect place for summer dining, lounging and relaxing. We’ve also found that kids enjoy “sleeping out” without actually going out.
There’s only one way to describe the size of the living room. It’s huge. With deep leather sofas and a working fireplace, it’s the perfect place to spend a rare rainy summer day. The cozy corner with a soft, microfiber love seat instantly lends itself to a lazy evening with a good book after the kids have gone to bed. Of course, there is a formal dining room complete with antique sideboards. French doors from the dining room lead right back to the screened porch.
While staying at OneRaleigh can make you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time, the kitchen and laundry room are thoroughly modern including the large side-by-side refrigerator, range with convection oven, dishwasher, microwave, and garbage disposal. There is a complete selection of professional grade cookware (and bake ware — you never know.) And, you know there’s a lobster pot.
One of the biggest pains about summer rentals is buying all of the food storage containers, cleaning supplies, spices, etc., and etc. Then, what do you do with all of that stuff at the end of the week? That’s why we supply the laundry detergent, bleach, etc, flour, sugar, salt and pepper, spices, dishwasher and dish washing detergents, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and even the Tupperware.
